Cachaça (kah-sha-sah), also known as Brazilian Rum, is its own category of spirit just like vodka, tequila, cognac and gin.  Cachaça is currently the third most consumed spirit in the world, and is the single, fastest growing spirit in the U.S. and abroad.  Unlike traditional rum, which is distilled from molasses (a by-product of sugar refining), cachaça is distilled directly from fresh pressed Brazilian sugar cane juice.  A well-made cachaça blends flawlessly with any fruit juice and is the key ingredient in the caipirinha, Brazil's national cocktail.

Rio D is distilled from hand-cut sugar cane which is harvested from the rural interior of Brazil.  The fresh sugarcane is pressed, and the resulting juice undergoes a modern, multi-distillation process to insure a consistent, measurable product.  As a result, Rio D contains an extremely low level of impurities and is characterized by a crystal clear appearance.  This distillation process, along with some proprietary tweaks, is the key to the clean, smooth taste found in every bottle of Rio D.

Rio D Lime and Rio D Passion are the first flavored cachacas available outside of Brazil. Their exotic aromas and flavors bring one-of-a-kind caipirinhas and other exotic cocktails to life!

The national cocktail of Brazil is the caipirinha (kie-peer-een-yah), a remarkably refreshing and exotic drink created with cachaça, limes, sugar and ice.  In recent years, the caipirinha has achieved tremendous popularity in the U.S. and Europe, and is currently the second highest selling cocktail in Germany
